These are the lyrics given by Chris on Facebook in response to someone's question. However there is another part not mentioned here, I didn't include it as I have trouble deciphering it. we've got a ???, we've got a ??? far-reaching depth of deep regret and sacrifice obscene ?? (obsidian) embraces, caught in the chain of time ...(rise a) ruin, emptiness defined In braces are the words I'm greatly uncertain about as they seem to make no sense in general context, and question marks are the ones I have no clue about. Maybe a native speaker can help clarify this? |

I guess you are implying that this is the song about love, but IMO it can mean something else - brothers in arms, for example. Some lyrics may sound strange, intimate in a weird way, but it is not unheard of in some cultures and time periods for soldiers to be close to each other without any romantic or sexual undertones; taking your comrade's dying kiss and so on. As such, this song in a certain sense can be applied a much broader meaning: leaving your mark on the world, building strong life-lasting relationships, shouldering the weight of living... Life is war, isn't it? Anyway, it's just a speculation. Maybe I'm looking for deeper meaning where there is none. |
