This is really hard for me to talk about, but it might make the memory more bearable. I am 1stSgt. Coyle. I served in the gulf war in the 17th infantry. this story is hard for me to talk about, so i might jump around time wise, but ill try to start from the very beginning. This story starts with my sophomore year in high school. I was the new kid and the first person I met was a super tall kid. he was probably about 5-6 inches taller than me, and I was older by a few months. We quickly became best friends. We had a lot of classes together and went on tons of double dates. I played guitar and him drums so we started a band. I was lead and rhythm guitarist and vocalist, he was the drummer, and our other friend played bass. We covered lots of police, cure and of course the smiths. After a few months we were a regular band at our local pub. We were really close all the time, but when we played music, we were like one person. We had such a strong connection and felt every note of every song like we were the same brain. This song was one of our favorites we did a kick ass cover of it. We went on to play a bunch of school events and made quite a bit of money playing at parties, pubs and the school. We had both applied to all the music collages available in hopes of a full ride scholarship. We got accepted into a few good schools, but no scholarships. so we did what everyone else did and enlisted in the military. We didn't go through BT togther, but we ended up in the same unit. We were so happy to be together, we were closer than brothers. We didn't get much Acton until another unit failed to protect our side so we were caught in a huge fire fight. We didn't take too hard of a hit, but I got shot twice in the leg. nothing serious, but I had to watch my best friend die. He got hit in the stomach, and our medic was down. He asked me to sing him a song and without thinking I started singing this song. It was the strangest thing, My leg stooped hurting, and we just looked at each other. It was the most peacefull momnt of my life. It's strange to think about now, amidst the most chaotic, violent, bloody, gruesome, and loud moment of my life, I had the most peaceful moment of my life. That moment when he smiled was the happiest, saddest, worst, best, and strangest moment ever, but to me it made so much sense. To this day, Every time I hear this song I cry and think about him. This song has soo much meaning behind it for me. And you guys are adding it up to a suicide? The literal meaning of a song never has and never will mater, it's the things associated with the song that matter. Especially a song with so much hidden meaning. Thank you guys for taking the time to read this. |

I would like to offer the suggestion that this death may not be suicidal. When he said "deep in the cell of my heart I really want to go" and since suicide is tipically obviously wanted. He is saying that he wants to go so it may be simply old age or terminal illness. |

I would like to first caution you to use the word 'Defiantly' unless you are Morrisy. I also would like to offer the suggestion that this death may not be suicidal. When he said "deep in the cell of my heart I really want to go" and since suicide is tipically obviously wanted. He is saying that he wants to go so it may be simply old age or terminal illness. |
