The story behind this song.....
It was written, recorded, and produced all in one session. The band and producer were all frying on LSD when they did this track (no, that's not a joke). All of the singles from Parts 1-3 had the same issue. They were exhausted and doing WAY too much acid. The fact that they had just switched to a new producer and were no longer even speaking to each other (particularly Shelley and Diggle) probably didn't help either. |

This is why Green Day isn't punk (or Billie isn't, at least). Punk is about rebelling against the norm and having an anti-authoritarian attitude. This song is the polar opposite of that. His attitude and desire for acceptance are very mainstream. |
