At first, this song to me was a love song, but not an ordinary one. It was about a relationship that was spiraling downwards to the point of the man (or it could be a woman too) leaving, and that man/woman was saying that it meant nothing, and kind of being nonchalant about it. Then I realized this song could mean so much more. I then interpreted it as a father leaving his daughter, which makes the emotional impact even more heavy, yet it works the same way. And then I opened it up into a bunch of new possibilities, like a friend bad-mouthing you behind your back even though you know that your friendship means a lot to them. So, overall, this song is about someone leaving someone. It doesn't matter who, just that that person meant a lot. (: |
