Yes, this song, and this band are complete genius/influential/pioneering you name it. The first verse suggests to me a feeling that the narrator is just regaining full consciousness after some kind of black out, maybe drug induced. The 'birds eye view' bit is certainly reminiscent of a certain tranquilliser. also, clarity is always rather ugly when it comes crashing back around you. So this is REAL life. The narrator is now seeing the world through sober eyes. 'And everything is how it ought to be' - For me a delightfully sarcastic look at the disorder after a night of intense intoxication, the reality of which is inevitably more ridiculous than the night itself |
