I have two interpretation. First is he's asleep and the girl is dead (or somewhere else, i don't know) and the second is he's dead and he is haunting the girl (based on the music video). Okay the first interpretation is every time he's asleep he dreams of this girl that he can never connect with. He dreams her dancing and singing a song but when he wakes up he would forget most of the stuff he dreamt. He tries to fall back to sleep but he fails. He fears that due to his inability to get back to sleep and remember, she would be disappointed in him. When he's with her everything becomes clear and he never wants to wake up but eventually he does wake up and forgets. The second one is he's dead and he's haunting this girl that he likes. Because he's a ghost he could never reach her. He'd always let her down because she wants him to move on but he can't. He sees the 'light' and tries to rest in peace but fails because he's always drawn to her (hence the verse :It was so clear but now it's gone, I couldn't keep my eyelids shut). |
