Phoenix – Love Like a Sunset (Part 2) Lyrics | 7 years ago |
wrote a short story based on this song awhile ago, i think i summed it up by saying "our love was like a sunset -- it was beautiful before it was gone" |

The 1975 – This Must Be My Dream Lyrics | 8 years ago |
seems to me like a post-breakup song, like the sort of thoughts and feelings you have when it's still fresh and raw in your mind. you think about it a lot so you're dreaming about them too in this verses he also talks a lot about how he thought this girl would "rearrange his world" and she was totally revolutionary, but he winds up just kicking himself because he's caught up and she doesn't give nearly as much of a shit as he does ("you got excited and now you find out that your 'girl' won't even get you undressed or care about your beating chest") the chorus is like a monologue/internal argument about her and he seems really passionate when he sings it as well ("i can't wait for you boy") probably my favorite song on the new album because i relate to the frustration in the song & it's also the most 80's-sounding in my opinion :^) |
Lady GaGa – Hair Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Please don't get mad at me but I think this song is about being transgendered. This part spoke to me a lot: I just wanna be myself/And I want you to love me for who I am/I just wanna be myself/And I want you to know, I am my hair Identity in this song is associated with hair, which, as JessalynW said, is genius. But let's analyze the metaphor for a second: what else is hair usually associated with? Gender. Long hair (which the singer is implied to have, because it can be cut, and cut when she is asleep) is associated with femininity. My brother (not trans) had long hair for YEARS and was confused for a girl on a daily basis. Hair is a HUGE projection of identity for anyone, and this song uses that fact really well in conveying whatever message you hear in this. As for the part that says "I just wanna be myself/And I want you to love me for who I am", along with the fact that this girl's mother cut her freaking hair as she slept, it is clear that the girl in question wants her parents to accept her for who she is and how she identifies. This song is so much more meaningful and powerful than Born This Way. It's so much more emotional! Well, it evokes emotion in me... |

Train – Hey, Soul Sister Lyrics | 10 years ago |
According to my brother, it's about a stalker. Don't shoot the messenger! He doesn't have an account. "Hey soul sister, I don't want to miss a single thing you do, tonight" He wants to see everything she does. "I'm so obsessed, my heart is bound to beat right out of my untrimmed chest" He's obsessed with her, he's in love with her so much that he stalks her. "So gangsta, I'm so thug, you're the only one I'm dreaming of" He only thinks about her. |
