I feel that this song portrays someone who sees their life/relationship/job/whatever it may be as just a repetitive cycle that they are unsatisfied with, as it is not what they expected: " these mannequins are too well dressed," is a way of saying that whatever it is was advertised to look better than it really is, much like mannequins in a shop selling clothes that do not look as good in reality. |

To me, this song has parts that speak to the feeling that you have after a bad breakup with someone that you see all the time, such as the line "How are we ever gonna get any better If we're always in the same room?", as though you feel the wounds will never heal as long as you have to see them again. I know, there's not a lot to support this, but its just a feeling I get from the song. |
