It seems to me the song is about the difficulties in communication and understanding... goes like that: I like you, I long for you, so I care enough to take moments of my day and send to you (this may not be literal, I may just talk to you later in the day). But, maybe because I am far, or maybe because you just don't understand me (or even maybe you do not like me as I do you), the message may never arrive or never be understood... You'll pay attention to someone else, who will 'set your clocks'. A bit sad, but a great song. |

Love it. Song talks about riding the bike on a sunny day, taking the shirt off, laying on the ground apparently not worried about anything... but thinking about what happened to a dear person, what in her life history made her that way. The song seems to be about having some time alone to reorder personal thoughts. |

As many others have written in one or another way, it seems to me that this song is about the realization that truth is not objective and not universal. The singer was "naive" in the beginning, believing in all he was told, but after some contradictions he is not sure anymore - and in reality, he gets quite insecure. Did not get the meaning of the last verse. Wanting to meet someone that will clear the opinions or some sort of leader that will say the truth fits to the song meaning. The title itself - Character Zero - for me could mean 'No character'. When people are unsure of everything, don't know the truth and have no opinion, they may just move 'along with the mass', having no character (no uniquenes) at all. I wonder if this would make any sense in English, though... |
