I really think this last line has a Wizard of Oz reference. To clarify I think it's "and you clutched clicking heels." "Clicking heels" would be home. Dorothy clicked her heels together three times and she was home. I think the idea being conveyed here is that she valued, or held close ("clutched") her home ("clicking heels") which, here, would be him. In this relationship, at this time before its dissolution when all was well, he was her home. And with this line he is reminiscing to how she valued that. I don't see the sex on the beach as clearly as everyone else does. The tongue in the ear line makes me think of sweet nothings. They're on the beach, at peace, and he whispers sweet nothings in her ear. It makes the same point, the relationship is going well at this moment he reminisces to a day on the beach. |
