U2 – Grace Lyrics 3 years ago
I named my daughter after this song. The concept of Grace is something unique to Christ's message and preaching. The Prodigal son, wise as a snake and gentle as a dove (Lady Wisdom in Proverbs), The Women at the Well. I absolutely love when Bono describes it / her when he sings "She travels outside of karma" - which is precisely what Grace is. Being surprised as something profoundly beautiful when it is not deserved.

Metallica – Orion Lyrics 9 years ago
Read a random youtube commenter mention that Dave Mustaine wrote the lyrics to Orion, but he was booted from Metallica before the release. James and the clan kept it on the record as an instrumental include. Can anyone confirm this?

Five Iron Frenzy – Giants Lyrics 11 years ago
I love how Reese Roper from FIF holds a mirror up to you in Giants, showing you the world at its worse and then asks you to see yourself in the picture. Are we contributing to the worlds infatuation of celebrating power and domination? Notice the very curt 'desire of every man' bit.

To rule the world, the desire of every man, The earth is shaking, There are giants in the land.

Reese uses industry giants as the main metaphor here (Adam Smith stuff) with its clear adoption of survival of the fittest to conquer all competition, in order to dominate.

IMHO Reese is a damn lyrical genius, in the same league as Bono and Jon Foreman (Both Christians in a secular band writing biblical poetry into their music). Reese I salute you.
