I think her partner has been abused, and she is trying to get them to open up. Misty windows and empty eyes would imply vacancy that comes with dealing with depressions and anxieties stemming from abuse. She is desperate to get through and heal before they do something drastic. Places hidden under the skin makes me think of self harm, cutting. She wants to see the person under the scars, who they where before whatever monster did this came into their life. She wants and an answer, but informs them regardless she will be their for them. She's got their back even if they are never able to talk about the trauma. She's hurt when they turn away, not that won't open up to her is a personal affront - but because they are ashamed. She correctly interprets the silence for pain. She knows they are suffering, and just because they aren't vocalizing it, doesn't mean she isn't aware. Free your mind from doubt, all you have is now. Time will not wait on the abused to heal, so she advises them to try and enjoy their life, free from the abuser. Free your mind from shame - this was not their fault, and she wants them to stop punishing themselves for the actions of someone else. That is my interpretation. |
