Blur – Essex Dogs Lyrics 11 years ago
Someone said they'd love to hear the unmixed jam session it came from. In an interview I read, Blur explain how each album has a 'gateway' song they think sounds like the direction of the next album- on this it was Essex Dogs. Producer Stephen Street remixed random jammed ideas into one new tune. The rhythmic drone was made by a sample of a guitar note, de-pitched to a low ticking sound, ran through a delay pedal where Street manually turned the speed up and down (someone said this song isn't like Radiohead because of Coxon's guitar but its manipulated by Street to sound like this). It inspired a new production approach for the next album William Orbit produced, being familiar with Electronic music; we hear samples and other heavily digitally manipulated sounds.
