To me it's about failing to give meaning and significance to your own live while being confronted with the enormousness and absurdity of everything all the time, like a lot of Therapy? songs, and that's one reason I like them so much. The terrible thing we're in the shadow of is death. 'Windows shatter and alarm bells ring I'm living in the shadow of the terrible thing' the realization of death breaks in to your live. 'Cause if you take away the future then the present collapses' This could mean that if you're aware that you're going to die eventually it's pretty hard to live in the Now. Great song, great lyrics and one of the best Therapy? albums. |
