Nine Inch Nails – I Do Not Want This Lyrics 11 years ago
This song is Trent's (the protagonist) manifesto. He wants to break free from the Ruiner but he can't. The noises that sounds like laser shootings during the second verse when Trent sings "I do not want this" could represent the Ruiner "shooting" at Trent's brain in order to weaken him and allowing the Ruiner to take control of him.

Nine Inch Nails – Eraser Lyrics 11 years ago
The Ruiner's third and final rampage (the first one being on "Heresy" and "March of the Pigs" and the second one being on "The Becoming"). After destroying Trent's (the protagonist) "warm place", the Ruiner resumes to fuck Trent up (mentally) and destroying him from the inside consuming his feeling and his will to live. The lines that end with "you" is the Ruiner saying to Trent what he has done and what he plans to do with him. The lines that end with "me" is Trent asking to kill him in order to end his misery and torment.

Nine Inch Nails – A Warm Place Lyrics 11 years ago
After Trent's (the protagonist) sexual assault on the girl she had sex with in the previous track, he finds a "warm place" inside of him where the Ruiner cannot find him. A place where he can be at peace with himself and just relax. Thought this tranquility doesn't last; the noises at the very end of the song represent the Ruiner finding the warm place and "erasing it".

The Ruiner's second rampage (the first one being on Heresy-March of the Pigs). The Ruiner has become stronger and starts destroying Trent's (protagonist) brain, beginning with his feelings. Thought the Ruiner sings this song, Trent sings the second part begininning in "i can try to..." representing how he wants to break free from the Ruiner's control but he can't. The final lines explain on their own.

Nine Inch Nails – Ruiner Lyrics 11 years ago
This song sees the Ruiner from Trent's (protagonist) perspective. The lines sung fast (almost like rap), is what Trent thinks about the Ruiner. The lines of "how to get so..." don't represent anything sexual or religious: they represent how he doesn't understand how the Ruiner grew so strong inside of him. The final lines are sung by the Ruiner: "you didn't hurt me, nothing can stop me now" is the Ruiner saying that no matter how much Trent tries to erase him, he cannot hurt him and nothing can stop him to fuck Trent up.

Nine Inch Nails – Closer Lyrics 11 years ago
After the Ruiner's rampage, Trent (the protagonist) conceals himself from the Ruiner in sex. He has sex with a woman taking a dominant role, probably an BDSM sexual relation. Though, he is the dominant in sex, inside he submits to her because if it weren't for her, he would have submmited to the Ruiner and killed himself, because that's what the Ruiner wants Trent to do ("you are the reason i still alive").

Nine Inch Nails – March of the Pigs Lyrics 11 years ago
The second part of the Ruiner's first rampage (the first part being in Heresy). This song is sung by the Ruiner's perspective: the choruses represent what the Ruiner wants to do with the protagonist. The line "take the skin and peel it back" could represent the Ruiner telling the protagonist to kill people.

Nine Inch Nails – Heresy Lyrics 11 years ago
The Ruiner's first rampage. After Trent (the protagonist) leaves his partner in the previous track, he thinks "Why God did this to me?". The Ruiner answers him by saying that there is actually no god "your god is dead". This thoughts make Trent apostate from Christianity. However, Trent also has his doubts when the Ruiner says "if there is a hell, i see you there".

Nine Inch Nails – Piggy Lyrics 11 years ago
This song works as an introduction to the protagonist (let's call him Trent). His partner grows tired of him ("my little piggy needed something new") and leaves him. He hides himself into believing that she doesn't need her anymore. The messy drum solo represents Trent's confusion over this decision. IMPORTANT: the line "nothing can stop me now" is sung by both Trent and the "Ruiner". Trent sings it because of his thought and the Ruiner because nothing can stop him to "ruin" Trent.

Nine Inch Nails – Mr. Self Destruct Lyrics 11 years ago
This song works as the prologue of the album. It gives us a general idea of what the album is about. It also represents the "Ruiner"'s puroposes: making the protagonist kill himself. The robotic noises at the end represent the "Ruiner" being born.
