I didn't read the previous pages, but this is a song about blowing off and partying your young years. While everything moves on around you people, time etc., you are stuck wondering where the time went e.g. "the sun sets on the east side" staying up until sunrise. After all is said and done, you are behind the times, you missed out on so much you cannot comprehend at the time, but afterwards, usually how it happens, you have to catch up on life. Please excuse my bad punctuation and diction, I am writing this quickly. If you are young and reading this, don't procrastinate your life and bong rip your life or refuse to get what you want, go out there and take control of your life no matter if you think you can do it or not. If you don't you will be singing this song later in regret, even though it is a masterpiece. |

@[thecirconator:6551] This song is extremely well written. It's interpretation allows us to mold meaning to many different endpoints. Bravo for these guys. I can say that this song rates with Radiohead, just more upbeat. and still makes you feel without wanting to consider alternates. The emotion you get from the harmony in the background totally sets the mood, but the song is very powerful. For me, it is losing the innocence after barely becoming an adult and after enlisting, joining of the ranks of thousands who realized.... Damn, my patriotism led me to ..oh shit.... now we fight to preserve eachother and make it out but where did my innocence go, I am still American, but I feel so empty now. Why is playing caps and the simple things so far away from me now. Maybe I will be able to feel my innocence once again someday. thanks for starting the thread. |

| This song is written so well. Plain and simple, this relates to duality. If you have truly experienced combat, you can look at a man, who you will kill before he kills you, and your sub thoughts are.... why. Fight or flight dictates this but as a human we are all equal. When called and shipped to fight, and the enemy dies by your hand, and your fellow brothers die by another, in the end we are all the same. (Leaving my political opinion out of this commentary). | I have carried this song through really happy and really tragic times throughout my life. It is simply majestic. all true writers and in this case Radiohead as a whole always give us nothing but art. These guys have eluded the top 40 except for a few in the 90's and that make me really happy. The average Sheeple cannot appreciate the depth of this music. | |
