To me, this song really speaks of healing yourself and finding yourself again. I've had an eating disorder for 5 years now, and I'm finally starting to get better. EDs are a lot about numbing your emotions, and you really lose touch with yourself. I've always wanted to "be whole" again, as in a whole person, who feels and experiences and is present in my own life. "I can see the glimmer in his eyes again..." To me, this really speaks of connecting emotionally with people again, especially romantically. I had a boyfriend at one point when I was doing better, but slipping back made me completely lose any feelings I had towards him. "I've been waiting years to feel this again" is about finally getting back in touch with yourself and connecting emotionally with others. The last stanza is about finally finding something that you want to live for again. |
