Bob Dylan – Isis Lyrics 4 years ago
Why couldn't the stranger, the "man in the corner" - have been Isis herself??

The real Isis was able to transform herself in order to disguise herself. The song starts to unravel - or so it seems:

"He said are ya lookin fir domethin easy to catch?" - hilarious!! Isis is standing right in front of him in disguise - if only he knew hiow easy!!!

Besides, "easy to catch" otherwise doesnt really fit with treasure hunting - you "catch animals or people you HUNT FOR tteasure. But as I say it does seem to unfold - all this being taken to a pyramid. The other strange lines "we'd be back by the 4th" the "stranger" - if Isis" was timing things to line up eith one day begire the 5th and we can adsume 5th of May, because our narrator says it was the best news he'd ever heard" and goes on a ramble about "things would be better the next time we wed" so a second wedding on the 5th a year hence? Or since this is an ullusion, some kind of time warp? At any rate, when Isis sees he in his return to her, she is coy because she did the entire thing! And our narrator is hilarious in his innocent stupidity while thinking he's one up -
PS the anount of crazed love he has for Isis and the fact that she drives him insane - perhaps this is why the whole album is called DESIRE??

Bob Dylan – Visions of Johanna Lyrics 11 years ago
"Women seem wicked/ When you're unwanted"- Jim Morrison
"Shot through the heart/ And you're to blame!/Honey, you give Love/ A bad name" (also relevant line whether we like to admit it or not) Bon Jovi

The singer of this song is getting his heart crushed, but he's
"doing his best" to permit the experience. He doesn't resort to prayer but something like it -with a more "zen" answer than a salvation. He's in a zen "koan": just one hand clapping, "one wins, one loses" (but which is which is undefinable, since you win BY losing and you lose BY winning!). So no- hope is actually the new kind of hope - thanks to visioning Johana. All this misery is beautifully agonizing - every moan, every groan waxes poetic - it's down to earth and esoteric at thebnsame time - the two differences curing each other, healing each other. "So good to feel so bad" strikes like it did so many times on Blood On the Tracks. But here, girls tease cruelly, heartlessly - or just not knowing the damage is happening at the other end. Johana can't do anything about it. But his visions keep one from totally succumbing. There's refuge, there's surrender to the vision, but that doesn't really change anything - yet if you can kick the whole thing over and walk on, that's subtlety revelatory (visionary). Now, in his state, museums aren't artsy fartsy hangouts - every piece starts to reveal its own torn up deep well of feeling. "Little boy lost" [NOTE: could this be the "little boy lover in his Chinese suit/He SPOKE TO ME, I took his flute/" from another song on the same BOB album??]has to be Louise's just previously entwined lover, who is telling the singer how He was jilted by her - when bringing her name up he speaks - TO ME (HAH!) of the farewell kiss they had - can you imagine such gall!! The singer was cast out to the hall way before this light-weight had even started with her - Oh, how the truly deep have to also wade even deeper into SHALOWNESS!! This peddler is another man who seems to at least know he's of poor character - having to be cared after by a countess. But like all the other women or girls in this scenario, she's insincere. The peddler is jaded and justifying his own parasitism by saying - yeah, well we're all parasites - just name me one who isn't! I'll pray for him - if there even IS such a person! Well, the SINGER is one! Non parasitic thanks to a vision he has that holds its own in a comparable magnitude to this reality. So someone MUST have prayed for him - sent him Johana - who's Not a comforter, just enough of an enigma to throw the whole works into mystic mystery
