Yeah I definitely think it's about abuse or neglect at home. Most likely from his father. I think that because of the last two lines in the first verse "kerosene hearts carry the name that my father gave me and take the face of the wolf." I think this is part of his thought process about whether he should run away or not, if he continues to take it he might end up like that. In the bridge he also said "I've waited all this knight to honor you. And say I know it's hard, but who are you to take it out on me?
On me?" He's saying that he wants to like his dad, but then his dad takes all his problems out on him. |

I think its about hiding from your problems because when he sais "all alone he turns to stone holding his breath half to death" he could mean that it came by surprise, and when he sais "terrified of whats inside" it means that he is scared to face the problem. Then when he sais "to save his life he crawls like a worm from a bird" he just cowers away from the problem. When he sais "all he knows if he cant relieve it it grows" it means the problem gets bigger as he continues to ignore it. Then in the end he sais "terrified to save his life". |
