This is probably my favourite song of all time and i think throughout my entire life i will always be able to go back to it. what i get from the lyrics is that its about a being out during adolescence "Take me out tonight" its someone who just desperately wants to go out and be with people. "Driving in your car oh please don't drop me home" they don't want to go home cause they want to stay with this person, it can be looked at in a romantic sense but doesn't have to be it could just be someone who they're very happy to be out with. The idea of the chorus where they say "to die by your side" it represents just how happy they are to be with this person or people, so happy that they could die right there and then and it would be fine The end "There is a light and it never goes out" is about when some how this period in their life has come to an end where they stop being with these people they care about so much and it hurts them extremely to know that it is all over. But they are desperately hoping for that experience to come again, to be out with people and be enjoying themselves that much. Ultimately that is what the song is about, Hope! |
