Half Moon Run – Full Circle Lyrics 11 years ago
"I watch as your head turns full circle"

I take this lyric literally, as in The Exorcist. The singer is aghast at witnessing his partner's nakedness of spirit, and can only watch in horror as his friend spins out of control and off the tracks, as if possessed.

Unless he's saying "parties full of pretty girls", substituting "fishes" for girls?

I noticed the grammatical error too, but put it down to poetic license. I vividly remember my eighth-grade English teacher accepting the grammatical quagmire of "Let It (TO BE) Me". She was a real teacher! And I don't even remember her name...

Pearl Jam – Crazy Mary Lyrics 11 years ago
Keep in mind that the song was written by Victoria Williams, and the compilation is a tribute to her including Crazy Mary. From Wikipedia:

In 1993, as Williams' career was beginning to take off, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Because she did not have health insurance, an array of artists, that included (amongst others), Pearl Jam, Lou Reed, Maria McKee, Dave Pirner (of Soul Asylum), and Lucinda Williams, recorded some of Williams' songs on CD for a benefit project called Sweet Relief: A Benefit for Victoria Williams.

I happen to have that CD, and Crazy Mary is of course the best song on the album.

Courtney Barnett – Avant Gardener Lyrics 11 years ago
I get the feeling that she dies. What's with the slow fade-out otherwise? I think the drug references just reflect society's position in the drug environment.

I've heard the opinion that the 'star' of this song is full of herself, but I don't get that vibe. Anybody?

Little Green Cars – Harper Lee Lyrics 11 years ago
I like your analysis, but what do you make of the reference to To Kill a Mockingbird? Why entitle the entire song with the name of its author? This song blows my mind.
