Somehow, someway - I survived my past. I could tell you about it but - nevermind. Going to keep pretending and acting like I belong in society. If I told you about my past - you might think less of me so - NEVERMIND. |

Moving on has it’s costs and opportunity costs. Leaving you lose and win. Settling sometimes let’s us move on and simply survive - however it’s never the same going forward. |

| Leonard Cohen – Everybody Knows Lyrics

Everybody knows it's coming apart
Take one last look at this Sacred Heart
Before it blows"
My belief is that the line is a reference to the afterlife where once again, everybody knows. Can’t run from it ever! Even Jesus knows - take one last look at His Sacred Heart - before it blows -
As Jesus didn’t even forgive the transgressions!
POWERFUL LYRICS!

| Concrete Blonde – Scene Of A Perfect Crime Lyrics

I believe the song is about a “first love” and how the relationship went awry. The “perfect crime” was committed against the protagonist who trusted that her lover would take care of her, throughout her life. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out and her eyes became jaded by the person that waited to show their true self (masqueraded). After you lose trust, you can never go back to believing in the fairytale that was believed about how life would go. The scene of the crime was the place where full trust was given to another person and the trust was squashed. Once trust is squashed, it is never given again. Hence, you can never go back to the scene of giving full trust to another - the scene of the perfect crime. |

| Concrete Blonde – Help Me Lyrics

It seems like a person is recovering from addiction and is looking for anything spiritual to grasp hold of because nothing makes sense in life anymore. The person is spiritually bankrupt and needs help to find a way out of addiction, out of the hole that substances led her to. It seems like she is asking another who has beaten their demons already and is asking for “help.” |

| Steely Dan – Home At Last Lyrics

I think this song is about recovering from drugs. He knows there is a life outside of addiction but it is scary. "I guess that I'm the lucky one." He feels the worst is over so he needs to get untied from the mast to try his luck again. Recovery community and life on life's term may be his home at last. |
