From the perspective of someone who listened to Copeland years ago and revisiting this song, I think I can safely say this song is about marijuana and how it gives the (singer) hope, peace, etc. Amongst the younger crowd you'll here multiple ways to say "get high" such as "get fly" or "get lifted", all because they hint towards being "high". Does nobody ask themselves why he says "I feel safer with my lungs full of smoke."? When he says "on an airplane" he means being high I.E. high up in the clouds = high on marijuana. Just my interpretation. If anyone who has smoked weed before can remember or recognize, it can give you hope, peace, comfort. When sober, you can see the world as a duller, scarier, less hopeful less beautiful place. |
