I was listening to this in the car driving and it started snowing, it gave me an existential feeling and this meaning came to me. In the beginning Tom talks about being life and we feel stuck in our lives we're born into which can be fine but it is what it is, everyone has goals, dreams, and aspirations for something more fulfilling in life than what they are doing this moment. To chase those things, you're going to have to leave the comfort zone and it's scary no matter what. If you take that risk, you'll feel like you're alone floating in an ocean hoping a things will come along and help. If you open you're eyes though you'll see there's a lot of people out there in that ocean chasing their dreams too. Enjoy the company and be friends, help each other, and instead of thinking how alone you are in the ocean but taking in the view, having fun with those other floaters. Suddenly life becomes much better and more beautiful.The moment you realize you know you're not alone and you know what you want and chasing that dream and that time it took to achieve that makes it that much better. Those people you meet in that ocean, that time you spent having fun and helping others makes everything that much more fulfilling. So my summary: its about taking a risk to chase a dream, realizing you're not the only one out there trying to do that. Enjoy the journey though because life's an ocean and you never know where this ocean could take you, so suit up boys and ride, and girls get on the dance floor because the ocean may take you to different places and you may never get to ride or dance with those people again or even ever if you want a more morbid view. |
