well im not going to discredit anyone in any way becuase i think any of these can be right, but i have a different view on the song. to me, this song is about what most teenagers go thru. i know the singer is far from being a teen, but maybe he experienced it back in the day. i see this song showing the classic case of parents pushing their kids too hard to do things. i go thru this about everyday and its really sickening. parents expect so much out of kids, and thats all that the kid knows, and it really gets inside their heads. there are a couple of things that KIND of back this up.... "With the absence of eye, I can start to bleed again... With the color of hearts it seems like you wear right thin And as it falls from your mouth, it seems like you needed it more" --this could be from the kids prospective saying that when his parents arent looking, he can show hes depressed/hurt/or whatever. "Well I can still ask for more, I will still ask for more" --this line could be from the parents prospective meaning that they never have enough, or whatever the kid does isnt good enough. "Get the fuck out, stay the fuck out It makes me sick (I'm alright) Slit wrist theory, stains us all" -- this can be from the parents POV with them saying whats obviously there, or it can be from the kids POV trying to get bad thoughts of not succeeding/suicide/etc all brought about by thier parents pushing them too hard. "Lace me up, lace me up I'm still looking for these angels in the snow Lace me up, lace me up I'm still looking for these angels in the snow"-- this can mean either that the kid gets "laced" or beat by the parents and the angels in the snow are the help he needs, practically impossible to find. or it can mean something like "lace up my shoes" and hes on his way to try and find what will satisfy his parents, the angels in the snow representing that its impossible to find it. "It seems like a runaround Words that won't matter"-- means basically the same as above. "And as it falls from your mouth it seems like you needed it more And I will color you red, I will color you all... red"-- means more evil thoughts inside of the kid which leads to the chorus telling himself to get rid of those thoughts. well i know this probably isnt correct, but its the way i take the song. thanks for reading this if you took the time. ;) |

| dillingerescapeplan, stop being an ignorant fag. i personally think this song IS about taking the leap of faith towards God, but that DOESNT mean that i want to lable them as a "Christian rock" group. any band can sing about anything, WITHOUT being labled. labled music SUCKS because its exactly that- labled. youre the only one calling them a christian band. they kick ass, christian or not, they are definitly hardcore/punk. just let them kick ass and dont lable them ok? | |

| first off......johnny qt fuck off dude. they didnt sell out, because they didnt change their sound. second....i think this song is about judas betraying jesus in the bible. the first verse is all about how Jesus and God helped him thru the thought times of his life, but then the second verse is about how he betrayed Jesus even tho he never really planned to. this may be wrong, but its just the way i see it. i know they arent a Christian band or anything, but that doesnt mean they cant have biblical parallels. | |
