| Deftones – My Own Summer (Shove It) Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| I think your interpretation is spot on, although your guess may be just as good as mine. But nevertheless, I can see the theme here. The summer is a time of revealing mostly because people wear less clothes and such, he uses this as an allegory for people judging off of school and summer in general. People judge heavily on appearance in the summer, during winter months and autumn, people are in school and mostly focusing on intellect. The act of looking up at the light may be those who attempt to change or embrace the light may get burned, such as the form of being ruined by the ridicule of the people by basking in the "light" or attention. Perhaps somebody stands too long in the sun to attempt to look better, instead they get burned? This is why he asks for "big mood; guide me to shelter" to escape the light and hide for the summer. | |
| Breaking Benjamin – Crawl Lyrics | 11 years ago |

Contrary to most people's belief, I think this song actually does have to do with a relationship. The song seems to outline their disputes, never becoming detailed but referencing their cold actions towards each other. But this song is different than any normal dispute. The relationship is so tattered and ruined that the man has to crawl away from it without dignity or happiness. "live, fight Crawl back inside Sick, Blind Love left behind" The chorus says it all, There is inspiration to carry on in this relationship, or in general afterwords, but now there is nothing. He feels sick and blind because he didn't see how broken they were and the agonizing feeling she left behind. The song is a beautiful synopsis of the direct feelings after this breakup, such as the dignity loss for all that he may have done for the girl, the pain and anger he felt of her betrayal, and the exert from their lifestyle with the "dilated eyes." Thanks for reading. |

| Breaking Benjamin – Polyamorous Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| Polyamorous. what this means, broken down into Latin and Greek, is "multiple love." The entire song mentions a friend getting him into trouble, this could either be literal or figurative. Meaning he could be mentioning his internal desires towards multiple women, or a different person keeps dragging him into a overly dramatic situation concerning multiple girls. When mentioning "staying away from the white light" that references a bug being attracted to a lamp. Obviously that never works out, similar to how today its frowned upon (unless affiliated with religion) in today's society. Getting in a mess of trouble is most likely concerning the women fighting with each other and such. The sun most likely represent the warmth of the multiple women giving him "warmth," then the clouds represent the girls finding out about each other. | |
| Chevelle – The Clincher Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| Thank you! the idea behind this song IS claustrophobia, and fear of death (necrophobia?) because of the referencing of "nailing down." this might have thrown off the christians in thinking of nailing down christ onto a cross, but no, it's the lid of the coffin. being buried, nailing down, brain needing oxygen, its the tight space of a coffin. | |
| Chevelle – Send The Pain Below Lyrics | 11 years ago |

This song has to do with a girl who constantly puts a guy through hell. Be that getting her gifts that never please her (causing, you guessed it, pain) but the guy liked the struggle and the pain. He believed that it would eventually cause them to grow closer perhaps. He becomes numb to the BS that the girl puts him through. "You used to beg me, to take, care of things then smile at the thought of me failing." This shows how the girl would give the guy tasks or certain hints of what she wants, Then she would expect the guy to fail. It reminds me of a super villain in the way how she would give the guy these impossible tasks in order to save something that he loves. In this case, is her. "much like suffocating" This seems to mean that she keeps occupying his time in the worst form, she has a totalitarian rule over their lives. She's slowly suffocating his life and only leaving her in the end. Thanks for reading. |

Your interpretation is flawless in terms of everything, I just feel I need to mention something. The "Red and Yellow" may link to something. Recently I have been looking into Blue Oyster Cult and their song ETI. They mention something along the lines of "King in Yellow, Queen in Red." I researched this and came up with that the Queen in red is from a Lewis Carol book. Those of you that don't know, he wrote Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. The Queen In Red was from Through the Looking Glass, her environment around her was always moving, and she had to run in order to keep up with it. This represents the ideology of Evolution and keeping up with the proceeding times. The King in Yellow I read myself, it's a collection of mysterious stories that end up relating to religion and/or social tenancies that are still relevant today. In short, the Red represents ideologies of science and some religion in terms of logic; while the Yellow may represent society and religious influence on a person's personality. |

| 10 Years – Beautiful Lyrics | 11 years ago |

This song seems to be an interpretation of fame and what it does to people. "Beauty over wisdom to fit in with their style Your Cinderella story's for a price Vanity's a business built to fleece the unique Silicon and stars collide, the rest will fall in line" Beauty over wisdom seems to mean that those with beauty will chose to take advantage of it, instead of learning and getting jobs they would go model to be paid for standing. Cinderella story represents the optimal "princess story" where some person who has beauty that is never recognized finally gets recognized, however, the price alludes to the sacrifice of somebody's normal life or sanity. Vanities of business may refer to a strong feminist who believes they are independent, although ultimately they fall prey to the businesses. Silicone refers to the process of taking a "raw beauty" and shaping it with plastic, mostly to do with boobs. Stars collide is sarcastic for the chances aligning to become famous. "Just as beautiful as you are It's so pitiful what you are You should have seen this coming all along" The chorus sums up the entire story behind this girl. She's beautiful, he feels pity for her because she had been tricked into a lifestyle that truly didn't suit her. The music video features paparazzi and a woman who was falling apart from this. The next verse in a nutshell seems to break down to this woman becoming full of herself, becoming egocentric, etc. She loses herself because of the fame and attention. This happens in any form of fame usually, but 10 Years took this from a female modeling/singing career. Guys have this happen all the time; be it football careers, music careers, anything that gives them enough attention in a positive light. It creates an addiction that spirals out of control eventually. Thanks for reading this long ass comment, hope it shed some light. |
