Bit of trivia: A long time ago (2003 or so) a local newspaper ran an article reviewing Sum 41's recent gig in town. The article was titled "Angels With Dirty Faces", and one of the band members confirmed this is where they got the title from during a radio interview they did when they came back to the city on the Go Chuck Yourself tour. The title itself is from an old gangster movie, which Deryck has said (in interviews/bio's back in the All Killer No Filler days) is his favorite style of movie, so it's easy to see why he would have chosen the final title once it had been used to describe the band itself. |

these lyrics are pretty deep. I think the song is just about the tolerance of white lies ("grey scale lives") ultimately sets people up for their first big lie. then, by the time you grow up and learn that the truth is what matters to people, so many people have been brought up in a white lie culture that even the truth - no matter how harmless - won't be believed. |
