This song is pretty amazing! I love it, I've been playing it on repeat. Anyway, to what i think the meaning of the song is. Well, I think it's about a girl who's changed, it took a while "It took a long long time to get here" but now she's stronger, braver and finally free. She totally changed and the guy that she used to be in a relationship with when she was more of a pushover has trouble accepting the 'new her'. In the bridge she says that if he was a friend and worth while he would try to get to know this new her instead being shocked and mad that he can't get whatever he wants from her all the time anymore. Just my opinion :) I just had to add this when i say that there were no other interpretations of the song. |

| ok, dude this is from the soundtrack of the movie Dreamgirls, an amazing movie that I had the pleasure of watching and it perfectly captures the position and feelings of the character at that time, she feels like she can't trust her husband and doesn't know what's true anymore. She feels repressed, like she is being pressured into being less than she can amount to if she is freed. If you read into anything you can find a satanic meaning. Relax. I personally don't believe in Satan as in my religion we believe there is no such thing as hell and Satan. Seriously, this song is for the Soundtrack of DreamGirls, go watch the movie and you will change your mind. The illuminati is not real! | |

| Thank you for sharing this! It's definitely the best explanation of one my favourite songs of all time. I love history and I love Coldplay so it's awesome how well the lyrics capture the story of King Louis XVI. | |
