I think this song speaks on religion and creating our own conviction. For me, any one religion is true, since they are only beliefs of some institution that have been supported by man because of its tyranny and oppression throughout history, whose objective has always been the wealth and power of the whole society, even if according to their purpose is world peace. Everything they create rules and commandments about what is prohibited and should not be done because otherwise it is a serious error or sin, all with the purpose of mow people so that not reveal or change fiction by rational. In some ways you are trying to brainwash so that not issues at any time and focus your time and support them. A question of my religion which formerly belonged was, "Why did God if it is a very good and merciful being above all of us was able to flood the entire planet? What is not forbidden to kill? What is the evidence or basis for this? And because of all these various conflicts over freedom of thought and revelation throughout history have emerged. Each of us is different, we think differently and we possess capacity to reason and think, let's use it to create our own beliefs free from oppression. |

I think that in this song, As I Lay Dying refers to the current situation of the world: as we sometimes believe achieve freedom, happiness and comfort with money and therefore we are able to steal, lie, kidnap and even shed the blood of our brothers only for after losing everything because of alcohol and drugs. Moreover I think allude to the bondage church, because we often believe that what is established by it is right when in fact the church are just humans like all of us. The idea is that we are not required to comply with all that is decreed, but rather to make what we believe is correct. |
