| The Dillinger Escape Plan – Chinese Whispers Lyrics | 8 years ago |

To me this song seems like it is about the fall of America, from the point of view of a Chinese soldier. Imagine the lyrics literally coming from the soldier himself. "Lined up waiting for the execution Blank stares fall from out of trees Never leave home praying for the new solution Sick from all the indifference in the breeze Put your head down, you're tied up With a blank stare you know that your time's up" They're executing citizens/soldiers in their own country via hanging. "Now you're lined up for the execution For de-evolution For the new solution So you can see the way that things are gonna be It seems like you've been running out now" Americans time as the top superpower of the world is at an end. "God knows you could lose some pride With an ego you could never even try to hide On your deathbed nobody stops by I remember when you thought you would never die With your head hight, go to sleep forever It's your last endeavor Who could do it better?" The soldier perceives his captives as arrogant and egotistical for ever thinking what they had would last. "I know it's just a game to you but not for me" Not many Americans are scared of something like this potentially happening, when in reality something like this could happen in time. "With fear in your eyes lie still in your bed Don't concern yourself with things left unsaid" This is where the title comes in. How many Americans today could hear, much less understand, anything whispered in Chinese? This line is the soldier sarcastically taking a shot at his captive(s), knowing full well that they can't understand what it is he's been saying anyways. "Your contribution is slowing progress You can't build something with empty promises" America viewed as a detriment on a global scale. "Every second is passing by so fast Everything that you cling to will not last There's a chemical weapon made from all your broken dreams From all your broken dreams" Once again reinforcing that the America has fallen and the world has a new leader in China. |

| Queens of the Stone Age – Someones in the Wolf Lyrics | 10 years ago |

@[OpiumForThePeople:1664] The one line is a reference to "There Was A Crooked Man" which is an old english nursery rhyme: There was a crooked man, and he walked a crooked mile. He found a crooked sixpence upon a crooked stile. He bought a crooked cat, which caught a crooked mouse, And they all lived together in a little crooked house. Crooked is another word for dishonest so it seems like Homme meshed the two fairytales together. The Crooked Man and The Wolf are, in fact, the same person. This person is a cannibal that hunts his prey in the woods, kills them, and eats them. It would definitely explain the sound of knives and (supposedly) bones being broken. |

| @[michellew_39:1663] I believe the wolf is saying those words to Red Riding Hood while stereotypically being "disguised" as the grandmother, as is the usual portrayal in pop culture. | |
| Type O Negative – Everything Dies Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| This song is ironically uplifting. The simplicity of acknowledging that everything near and dear to your heart will ultimately die has never felt so...freeing. It just goes to show that acceptance of truth can lead to spiritual fulfillment | |
| Queens of the Stone Age – First It Giveth Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| I believe that this song is about giving yourself to a person that uses you only for sex. The person really doesn't care about you at all and after they've had their fun they leave you. | |

I feel that this song is about the big name actors and musicians that conduct themselves in terrible ways yet still get idolized by younger fans. When those celebrities finally get shamed and their followers realise just how terrible of an influence they are, they turn their back on them. The celebrities then get replaced by another false idol to be idolized by the next generation, who follow and mimic everything they do, thus continuing the cycle. The Nowhere Kids are the ones who realise later in life just how terrible their heros were |

| Lacuna Coil – The Ghost Woman And The Hunter Lyrics | 11 years ago |

My personal interpretation is that it's about a loved one who passed away. However, I find that Cristina sings the song from the point of view of the one who has died (Ghost Woman). The Hunter is moving on and trying to fill the void that the woman left when she passed away, and it tears her apart having to watch the man she loved forget about her so easily. They'll never truly be apart as the bond to the woman was so strong that she cant will herself to let go, but he wont be a_part of her tears since he has essentially abandoned his feelings for her |
