Men Without Hats – The Safety Dance Lyrics 7 years ago
Shouldn't it be ''Everything's under control'' though, since it's a Safety Dance?

Bauhaus – She's In Parties Lyrics 9 years ago
I thought it was about the party scene/underground nightlife becoming fake and commercial. "It's in the can" means it's over, as with the relationship with this woman as well as the spirit of the early days of the scene. The authenticity of the scene is gone and this is paralleled with the relationship going to waste because the woman is indulging in this fake scene where everyone is trying to get in because it's so popular now (learning lines in the rain: lines of dialogue or learning to wait in line?). It's full of double-entendre with cinema jargon. Probably has to do with the rise of music videos (MTV).

Split Enz – I Got You Lyrics 10 years ago
He's dating this girl who is super popular. He starts to get obsessed with her.
She becomes everything to him.

The girl probably thinks he's creepy and something tells me it all happens in his own head.

Split Enz – One Step Ahead Lyrics 10 years ago
He starts out wanting the relationship to move on but maybe he's being a little to hurried and that makes him confused because it's not going the way he wants it.

Things become so entangled and confusing that in the end he doesn't see how far ahead she is and he's kind of left behind with his confusion...

Split Enz – Message to my Girl Lyrics 10 years ago
Let me try. It shouldn't be too complicated.

He thinks words can be corny and spoil the moment, but at the same time he needs his girl to understand how he feels, hence his hesitation.

At the end of the day, his message is really like a dream, a life he envisions, where real love can bloom. He just hopes she can pick up the meaning of his vision, which is too grand for words.

Sebadoh – Not Too Amused Lyrics 11 years ago
I could picture Jason telling Lou to shut up, but I wouldn't know for sure.
Maybe someone in the family. A big brother or father figure, or maybe just an old ''friend''.

There's something he doesn't want to talk about.
Something bad happened. And this person goes on and on.
The way he keeps it to himself makes it even more worrying and the music build-up reflects that. That last line drives it home that he's pissed off about something, and in general.
