I finally realize this song is not about suicide. It's about a girl sabotaging what could be a wonderful relationship because of emotional insecurity. The song begins with a man's view of how beautiful he sees her. Her forced smile betrays what she is feeling, and he can see through it. She won't tell him or anyone else what troubles her. He reminds her that he stayed and he waited for her to understand that he wanted her despite her insecurities. He is troubled that she screams for help, but never actually asks for it. He reminds her again that should she ask, he would answer and he would tell her everything that he feels again and again. The lyrics here are wrong, at least how he sings them. "Cause nobody wants more than I want you", the phrasing is profound. Nobody wants for anything or anyone more absolutely than he wants for her. There is no desire that exists in the world that is stronger than his desire to be with her. |
