LINK TYPE: LYRIC TO TEXT I just finished reading CYRANO DE BERGERAC in english class. the last act made me think very much of this song... the book brought up vices, "Who adds constraint, and adds a ray of glory; For Hatred, like the ruff worn by the Spanish, Grips like a vice, but frames you like a halo!" similar to the way the song does "we were caught up and lost in all of our vices" "in your pose as the dust settles around us" or sins. this relates to the book because the they are both observing they're life and thinking about it when they are at the end of the road. Also the last thing Cyrano says is "my white plume", and this relates to the song because when a volcano explodes, there is a mushroom cloud of smoke and everything around it is obliterated. It also makes me think of the ash that settles. just like Cyrano sole settles at the end, so do the the soles of all the men, women and children who die in Pompeii. I would also like to add that in both cases they are faced with death that cannot be avoided. |

| I belive its about how you no one likes people who are poor and use them... especially when they are trying to hook up or find a significant other... they will not be able to ever find someone to live with because they are too poor. | |
