this song, in my opinion, can be interpreted in to different mindsets. the first is a representation of his descent into madness, hence the name lithium. many other comments describe that interpretation. the second is one of the viewpoint of a religious extremist or cultist. let me break it down. I'm so happy 'cause today I've found my friends They're in my head This is showing that his mental state is already a little off, and that he is lonely most of the time, finding comfort within his own head I'm so ugly, but that's okay, 'cause so are you We've broken our mirrors he has found a group of outcasts that are "ugly" which could just symbolize removed from society or sociality.
