*sigh* I love songs written for grown-ups. We don't always end up with the one we truly love. Period. This song is a plea to not let that happen. |

I love Damien Rice because he writes for grown-ups. This song, and Accidental Babies are two of the best examples. The real world is messy and complicated. Good people sometimes do bad things....sometimes even for love, sometimes just for themselves. I think this song just looks at relationships squarely in the face and tells the truth about what happens sometimes. Not proud of it, but truthful. |

This time around, Sodom is The West. We have it all..."we've got dogs and Valvoline, it's a pretty damned good time" "with cake in vulgar surplus, we can have it and eat it, too". And we are looking out for #1..."there was one repressed do-gooder, and a few who still believed, yes I think there were 5 good men here yesterday...but they were asked to leave". Like all such societies in history, they eventually collapse under their own weight. |
