I don't agree with girls being necessarily more vulnerable and need protection than boys. I think it's values we label girls and boys. Yes; physically boys are stronger and like Githanan points out, througout the history the violent acts have been coming more from men, but that has something to do with gender policy and places not veing equal besides the male's physical strength. However that is not still the case in today's society and therefor the idea of a 'little girl who needs more protection than a little boy' is outdated and annoying. It keeps some imaginations of the genders alive that are not longer necessarily the truth, so it works like a self-fulfilling prophecy, in my opinion. By the way different perspectives is what makes a developing and challenging debate, so LazyT747 if you just want to get confirmed in your own opinions, maybe just read a book that doesn't fight back. But in an active debate all opinions are wellcome, suck it up. |
