I believe this is a very deep, sad song. It really speaks to me because a person who was like my brother loved this song. He lived life fast and wild, and a few months ago he overdosed and choked on his own puke. That was his end. But about the song, I think it tells the story of a kid who decides to live his life without responsibility and thoughts of the future. The person is afraid of getting that boring, colorless life some end up living, so they decide to leave their past behind. They may regret it, but they won't have to deal with the pressures of that life anymore. They were fated to live fast and die young. A tragically romantic life which ended the way it should end. The lifestyle ended their existence. |

This song is absolutely amazing. To me, the song tells that everyone is running from something. What you're running toward may not be what you need. It's just an illusion of your dreams. The song also involves money and what road you choose in life. "What is it worth, what is it worth Have you given up on freedom You spent your life earning the keys to set you free When you were free all along" I believe those lines are meant to make you think about life you're choosing. They tell you that doing things you don't love for money that will "set you free" is a waste of time, and soon you'll find your life is closing, you've wasted it. You don't need to get lots of money or freedom to chase your dreams. We're already free. |
