Sonata Arctica – Draw Me Lyrics 11 years ago
Just wanted to add this: it seems to me that in this song there are two points of view, one being that of a woman who asks the painter to be portrayed and another being the one of the artist himself.
The first lines are that of the woman who flatters the artist ("Blessed with an eye...") and says that he, knowing his ability, never spent his time with the people around him ("up there on the wall, looking down to us all") and so never noticed her.
Then the artist answers starting a story ("I found a pen, and I outlined a life..") but is interrupted by her who sees that he is crying and says that that has never happened before (maybe this woman had known the artist for a long time but he never noticed her).
She goes on and tells him that she understands, she will "not ask again", and so on.
Then that sentence... "Cut my drawing in half". That's odd. I have two explanations. Maybe the artist already had a drawing of her but never finished it so she asks him to cut it or maybe... The part "I found a pen and I outlined a life" refers to her, who made a drawing of herself and brings it to the painter to use it as a base for a portrait, so the artist doesn't start to tell her his story, she simply notices his tears and understands and then she says "For I think I'm like you" so apparently she has the same terrible power that the artist has, to "kill" people making portraits. "Should you draw me" sounds like she of course is not sure that this kind of "magical" power exists so asks him to be reassured, and then the "waiting for my evenfall" looks similar to what comes after, "I have lived a long life, should I draw me?", that is, she will wait to be old to be portrayed.
Then the point of view switches with that of the artist until the end, and I have no other comments to do.

I really like this song, it's one of my favourites.
The lyrics are pretty clear but do someone know what are those "seven ways" to keep him near within her reach? :/

Sonata Arctica – Only the Broken Hearts (Make You Beautiful) Lyrics 11 years ago
Easy to understand. Basically it's a song about a man who loved a girl who broke his heart; this made him suffer so much at the beginning. We can understand that this girl must have broke many hearts, and the narrator explains that this experience made him cynical. Maybe he renounced to believe in true love or something like that.
The fact that "only the broken hearts make you beautiful" might be a common conception that some girls are pretty famous just because they had a lot of men. It could be even more cynical and negative: a girl who had a lot of men is called "beautiful" by other men because basically she's kind of a whore.

Sonata Arctica – In My Eyes You're A Giant Lyrics 11 years ago
I agree with you, WolfxSong, except for the ending. I think that the wolf doesn't kill the human, and it just escaped to stay out in the night. The last lines are pretty contradictory:

"I am howling out there" is a change from the previous chorus, so the wolf is maybe free, but then in "Every night I hear something out there telling me I'm not your child" it seems that the wolf still has the same bound with the human and it's still undecided about what to do.

Sonata Arctica – The Ruins of My Life Lyrics 11 years ago
Even if it is said this song was inspired by the movie Braveheart it has little to do with the plot of that movie...
IMHO, I find that this song can be an alternate version of Replica, the war that changes everything, but here there is a positive love story with the protagonist still in love and loved by his women, while in Replica we see that she doesn't even recognize him when he comes back from war. I also see some connections with My Land, in that song we see the wrath for the invasion of a country but we don't know how the invasion ends, in this song it seems that it ended badly, so when the soldier comes back he finds only "the ruins of my life".

Sonata Arctica – Broken Lyrics 11 years ago
Hi everyone, just wanted to add a little thought:
There's a man who it is said to have lived 7 lives of a man: Cain.
He was damned by God and in some traditions he became sort of a Vampire, a dark
creature. This looks to go by with some parts of the story.
This could easily be an invented story of Cain, who according to Tony had seven loves but only one of them broke his heart (it is said that one of Cain's loves was Lilith). God posed a sign on Cain and condemned him to walk on heart like an exile, being hated by everyone. Nonetheless, in jewish culture Cain managed to have a lineage, although being damned as well as Cain...
