I really like your interpretation and I think the whole Adam & Eve thing probably had some role to play in Corgan's formulation of the lyrics.
That said, drug addiction is definitely the primary factor. I'm thinking it's probably heroin because of the middle section of the song where he talks about the "dream" and the music takes on a very serene and dreamy quality, which only really fits with heroin. And there are the allusions to injecting (shot full of diamonds, "in a dream we are connected, siamese twins at the WRIST". Also, there are other hints. Such as, "my dear delirious" which also fits best with heroin. "The disappointed disappear" right after the "shot full of diamonds and a million years" which refers to getting high and forgetting his troubles and losing any kind of normal perception of time.
And there's the part about being forsaken. Then he speaks of a feeling that he can't describe with words. Immediately after which he speaks of the virus of his mind, giving into his needs and his disease. Addiction is a disease, and if you are addicted (especially with certain drugs, of which heroin is the most notorious example) you truly need your drug to function or your body will shut down.
Either Eve actually IS the drug in question (many junkies could very accurately be described as having only one true love (or relationship) in the world: their relationship with their drug).
Or if Adam & Eve represent an actual couple, then heroin is the forbidden fruit and plays a primary role in breaking them apart. "She gave it all away. She gave it all away." This means she either prostituted herself for drugs, or she gave up the drug in which case she would also have to break it off with Adam who is still using. |

I would advise you to take heed of your own advice... And to learn the meanings of the terms "metaphor" and "analysis"
P.S. How exactly do you figure that disillusionment and drug use are mutually exclusive? In actuality, they can be quite closely related to each other. Especially in the context of this song |

Seriously? "heart cooks brain" is a very straight-forward metaphor for the act of a drug hitting a person's heart and being pumped to their brain to make them high... |

What Fabio said... And that sentiment STRONGLY indicates that he had a rather severe drug problem at some point. Otherwise he wouldn't have to make an effort or talk about trying to remain sober.. |

Also the line "my brain's the burger and my heart's the charcoal" refers to the heroin hitting the person's heart which pumps it to the brain, thus creating the high... Heart Cooks Brain... Which happens to be another song on this album ;) |

This is why in the background at about 1:35 you can hear somebody say "God is dead!" And why they talk about the "promise of heaven" and the "threat of hell" in the first verse, and why they say that "nobody is saved" and it's all "gone down the drain" in the third verse. |

To be specific, the song isn't just saying that the money you've made is worthless when you die. It's saying that the money you've given to the church, and all the "christian morals" that you've followed to get into heaven don't do you a damn bit of good. You wasted all that time, effort, and money trying to get into heaven when you could have given yourself a more enjoyable life instead. |

Obviously it's talking about death.
More specifically the song talks about how the church (or various Christian denominational churches) teach that you must follow a certain set of morals in order to avoid Hell and go to Heaven. And how these churches coerce their members into giving them substantial sums of money as well...
But when you die, all the effort and money that you gave so that you could get to heaven ends up being completely worthless. When it's all said and done, you ended up giving all that money and avoiding premarital sex for nothing. God doesn't shepherd you into heaven for doing it, you simply die and it all just "goes down the drain." |
