Pretty simple if you research what the artists themselves say about the song: "Einziger discussed the track's lyrical content with Rock Sound: 'The song really tells a story; two people who are perhaps lovers, perhaps just close friends, and it's a classic story of betrayal. They go up into the sky in a hot air balloon, and one of them decides that they're going to keep sailing, while the other decides to leave.'" Isadore is a masculine name and not feminine so the lovers are not same sex. Erica has great expectations for this relationship and Isadore (meaning gift of Isis-goddess of fertility) goes along for the ride and they over-indulge in sex. Pretty classic to nature, Isadore realizes he does not in love Erica the way she loves him and leaves. Erica cannot get over the loss and mourns his departure forever. Erica will never forget her Isadore. |
