i agree with threeways in that it is apocalyptic, but then again "pulling everyone down with me" means that the persona is clawing for life in this miserable state but then questioning whether he should make people die with him. in the end the persona is trying to stay above water so hard that he drowns those who are holding him up and drowns himself. it is a metaphor of self sacrifice in a group situation. |

possibly the best song off vengeance falls this is about criminals who are set free and go on to attack all over again. amazing lyrics that prove Trivium is a great band. i hope there are more songs like this on the next album. |

Although alot of people are saying that religion is the cause of war, i think what MKH is trying to express here is that it is very easy to justify war with religion. think of what germany did with its kit in WW1. in thier belts they wrote something along the lines of "god is with us", then hitler used jews as a scapegoat for all the problems with germany. in more recent times, the taliban have used islam as thier reason for war on the US and GBR, when it is really because of long seated hatreds within thier own community. Also, can you imagine if the USA had gone to war with iraq and afghanistan out of open revenge? what MKH is trying to say here is that it has become too easy for us to discount someone elses religion and say that ours is superior when it will probably only lead to more hate and war. |
