Jonny Sniper was a cartoon that taught them sex-ed. Sex-ed as an institution is a useful step in the right direction for preparing people for sex and relationships, but often falls short because of squeamishness. Jonny coming close to getting anything out about the dangers he's hearing from the Earth itself ("It warns us of disaster, and I can't help but wonder, can anyone hear the same distress call?" or "The Screaming of the Earth, and I can't help but...") marks the ends of the verses. In response, the chorus impresses on us that “this IS the quest to save the world”, time to carry on this peppy song, let's not harp on all that grim news. This is like how sex ed classes might sometimes get to a serious, unpleasant point that the class may then need to run from with awkward transitions, excessively light framing, and occasionally goofy characters like Jonny Sniper to make the whole palatable if they even address the more cringy issues. |

I think this song is about a charmer who's basically a predator framing a less charming patsy for harming a victim close to the patsy ------------------------------ End me like a sick dog. Store me in a vase. {more bestial self references suggesting literally arresting their motion / ending their life} I’ll fight my way out by teeth.
