| Beautiful,touching song! And hurts every time I hear it! Drug addiction? Maybe..but I think it's more about regret,depression,unwanted memories,useless thoughts that are "broken" because they are only the damaged reflection of what once was ,of wrong actions that we 've done and we can no longer repair.. It's about losing ourselves and find it so hard to heal our ill inner I.."If I could start again..a milion miles away..I WILL KEEP MYSELF..I would find a way".I guess most of us lived similar moments,when we thought that lying to ourselves or to others was so much easier..another lie. " I wear this crown of shit upon my liar's chair..Full of broken thoughts I cannot repair.." Crown of shit: negative karma created by his(ours) wrong actions and choices.." What have I become..my sweetest friend.." He maybe talking with someone,with his only friend or it can also be a monologue,he is talking with his inner I,his once lost,burried conscience.."Everyone I know,goes away in the end"..loneliness,paranoid and depressive state of mind or just..stoping to the end of the line,that he sees."I hurt myself today..to see if I still feel..I focus on the pain.. The only thing that's real..The needle tears a hole..The old familiar sting..Try to kill it all away..But I remember everything".The reference to the drug addiction is strong here but,again,I think is more metaphorical..It's about,how,sometimes life can become so uncoloured,so gray and sad( caused by our mistakes,' cause we've hurt or got hurt by others,painfull memories that(we)he wants so hard to delete),nothing is true or real no more,just the pain.Self inflicteed pain to forget other pain.Someone says" once you stop moving,you're dead" or " only fools are happy 'cause they don't think and first of all..don't remember"..Seems a very stupid thing to say,but there's so much more behind those words.Then: "Beneath the stains of time..The feelings disappear..You are someone else..I am still right here". Time is passing,changes everything,everything evolves or becomes something else.He feels blocked,trapped,dead.."I am still right here"."You could have it all..my empire of dirt..I will let you down..I will make you hurt". He says: look at me,this is what I am,an empire of dirt,I am nothing,I have nothing to give to you,I am already hurting myself,I hurted you also and I will do it again,stay away from me! | |
