Its interesting that he relates the sea to "old wisdom" (in the song he says "long forgotten maxim") and then tells us how the only thing he belongs to is the sea. He rhymes "sea" with "me". My guess is that he is referring to the old wisdom that the only thing that really exists is this Life, and he belongs only to this Life. Pantheistic view maybe, or maybe I am diving too deep into the lyrics haha. Bottom line, this song is A-MAZING and has an obvious freedom theme and tone to it :) |
