I suppose it's a similar style or treatment. |

| I'm a believer in God, but I can dig much of your interpretation of "Mind Games". It makes much sense to me. I agree with you about 75%. See my comment posted February 4, 2014. | |

I always thought John Lennon's "Mind Games" was about religion and spirituality and searching for What's Real. He uses lyrics like "mantra", "peace on earth", "druid dudes", "magic", "search for the grail"--and that's just the first stanza. Throughout the song, there are references to concepts of God, the spirit, the supernatural, and so forth. The bridges--"Love is the answer" and "Yes is the answer"--get down to the nitty gritty, the heart of the matter, past the "bull****" and into what's real. Love and affirmation, love and surrender to a being (or Being) or a will that's not just your own. I've found Bible verses that can correspond to those two statements: "Love is the answer": Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1 John 4:8, NIV) "Yes is the answer": But as surely as God is faithful, our message to you is not “Yes” and “No.” For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us—by me and Silas and Timothy—was not “Yes” and “No,” but in him it has always been “Yes.” For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. (2 Corinthians 1:18-20,NIV) At least that's how I see it. |
