I believe I heard somewhere that one of the members of the band (i think Julian I'll explain in a second) that their brother killed himself and jeff was so kind to write such comforting things about it like "he didn't mean to make you cry" and "he says it's good to be alive but now he rides the comet's flame and won't be coming back again" which is the sweetest thing ever. I think it was probably Julian because he describes making music as a "coping mechanism" and that he's done it since he was 16 which could've been when his brother died. and also Julian is kind of childlike and kind and it's just the saddest thing |

| I think this song about a kid who feels like a freak because he has no friends and it's like he has two heads. Maybe Jeff didn't have a lot of friends when he was a kid. But then he meets this girl who is his friend and they hide in an attic like in the holocaust and he makes her a radio. | |

I think the first part is about wanting to help a girl with a crappy life and he has anger towards her family like in Oh Sister "Don't be afraid of me I only wanted to be hard on the family" and then the middle part is tying this story line to the other themes of the album like the holocaust. the third part "Goldaline my dear" like Rose Wallace Goldaline, again from oh sister, as if he's finishing a story line he had started before. And also they are in a stranger's stomach blending together like a two headed person. |
