So, this song is basically about death, as far as I understand it. I've been believing in something so distant as if I was human And I've been denying this feeling of hopelessness In me, in me (When she was alive, she would deny the feelings of hopelessness, depression and loneliness in her) All the promises I made just to let you down You believed in me, but I'm broken I have nothing left (She promised her relatives/friends she would recover, what did not work, she failed. They believed in her, but she was too broken, and didn't see the point of living her life anymore. She believed she had lost everything important to her "I have nothing left") And all I feel is this cruel wanting We've been falling for all this time And now I'm lost in paradise (She has had suicidal thoughts and probably some other self-destructive urges, which made her feel guilty. Now she's dead, as she wishes, but does not feel happy) As much as I'd like the past not to exist it still does And as much as I'd like to feel like I belong here I'm just as scared as you (She wishes, her unhappy past not to exist, or possibly regrets killing herself, she knows she can't undo anything that has been done. She wishes she could belong, and is as scared of death as the people she was close to) I have nothing left And all I feel is this cruel wanting We've been falling for all this time And now I'm lost in paradise Run away, run away One day we won't feel this pain anymore Take it all the way Shadows of you 'Cause they won't let me go (She tried to run away from all the pain, believing that after death she would be freed from it. She falls into drugs/alcohol, as it provides her with some relief. The shadows of depression and desire of death don't leave her, won't let her go. So I have nothing left And all I feel is this cruel wanting We've been falling for all this time And now I'm lost in paradise Alone, and lost in paradise (She is now in heaven, alone) |
