Ed Sheeran – Be Like You Lyrics 9 years ago
I see the song as being from the perspective of someone who has just been dumped by their lover. The song explains the relationship and hints at its being toxic and not healthy with his lover's anxiety which is reflected in both her worry over what people think of her and their relationship and her possible eating disorder (hinted at with the lyrics "I'll stop eating food and I'll squeeze into a dress so I can be like you"). The other person (Ed's perspective) also hints at having his own issues when he says that "he'll give up and be frustrated" where Ed is admitting to having his own problems and that the relationship had problems with both of them. The song goes on with Ed confessing that he believes he is in-love with his then girlfriend and it appears that Ed is trying to understand why the relationship ended as he is putting himself in his lover's shoes to "be like you". By the end of the song Ed comes to the conclusion of how toxic the relationship is and he understands that his lover left him because she loved him and so she loved him enough to walk
away before she hurt him.

Obviously this is just my interpretation and I may be entirely wrong but this is just what I associate the song with meaning.

Adele – Hello Lyrics 10 years ago
This is my interpretation of the chorus:

'Hello from the other side
I must have called a thousand times
To tell you I'm sorry for everything that I've done'
-This is a pretty obvious meaning in saying that she has been trying to tell someone that she has done wrong to. The 'hello from the other side' could be literal as in other side of the phone or other side of the world because suggests in the song that she left the town where 'nothing ever happened'.
'But when I call you never seem to be home
Hello from the outside'
-these words I think are most important for what the song is about. what she is saying is that he is 'never home' but I think that this is literal speaking as what she means is that the person that she remembers from her past is never there and so this inspires the following line of 'hello from the outside' as she feels like an outsider as the person who she used to know so well is a stranger.
'At least I can say that I tried
To tell you I'm sorry for breaking your heart
But it don't matter, it clearly doesn't tear you apart anymore'
-This suggests that she is trying to tell the person that she is sorry but the person is acting nonchalant and saying that they don't care as they are now a stranger and she believes that they are over her.

This is my interpretation but it may just be that the lyrics are completely literal but either way the lyrics are great!

Ron Pope – A Drop In The Ocean Lyrics 10 years ago
'A drop in the ocean
A change in the weather
I was praying that you and me might end up together'

I feel like he's saying that he knows that it's just a shout out to a void and that his call won't be heard because there are so many other people praying for the same thing but he won't give up on the relationship and needs some kind of hope that the relationship will last.

'It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert
But i'm holding you closer than most,
'Cause you are my heaven.'

He knows that it's almost impossible that they will last and that his days in heaven with her are numbered and so wants to hold her as close to him as possible to stop her from slipping through his finger tips.

All Time Low – Therapy Lyrics 10 years ago
My view on this song is different to most people's and may not be the actual meaning of it but I see it like:

'My ship went down in a sea of sound
When I woke up alone, I had everything'
-He lost his way and when he woke up he realised that he was happier alone.

'A handful of moments, I wished I could change
And a tongue like a nightmare that cut like a blade'
-There are painful memories that he wants to forget of other people hurting him.

'In a city of fools, I was careful and cool
But they tore me apart like a hurricane'
-He tried to fit in and 'be cool' but they everyone picked him apart for trying to be cool.

'Give me a therapy, I'm a walking travesty
But I'm smiling at everything'
-I think that this is sarcastic and he's saying "Oh yea give me therapy because I'm such a fool" when really he is the happiest that he has ever been but people don't understand that he's actually happy.

'Therapy, you were never a friend to me
And you can keep all your misery'
-He's talking about all of the sessions which are supposed to help him but he feels that all it did was bring misery.

'My lungs gave out as I faced the crowd
I think that keeping this up could be dangerous'
-This is when everyone's talking to him saying "are you feeling better" and he's saying "yes I'm feeling better" to them all but really he's not because the therapy is making him feel worse and is giving him a lot of misery.

'I'm flesh and bone, I'm a rolling stone
And the experts say I'm delirious'
-He's saying that he's human and makes mistakes but people are calling him 'delirious' just to put a label on it.

'Arrogant boy
Love yourself so no one has to
They're better off without you
(They're better off without you)
Arrogant boy
'Cause a scene like you're supposed to
They'll fall asleep without you
You're lucky if your memory remains'
-He's different from all of the arrogant boys and that's why everyone thinks that he is in need of help as he is not like the other guys, however he knows that he doesn't want to be like the rest of the guys.

Zedd – Clarity (feat. Foxes) Lyrics 11 years ago
I think that it's about a 'toxic' relationship where the friends are all saying 'your love is insanity and tragedy' and she'd saying that if it is then how come he's my remedy to the sadness? How come he's my clarity to my insanity? I think that it's a dysfunctional relationship where the two are deeply in love but others don't approve but she's too far in to see where the friends are coming from.

Maroon 5 – She Will Be Loved Lyrics 11 years ago
My opinion on this song is slightly different. I think that she broke up with her boyfriend because he took her for granted and she was really hurt by this. The guy (who is singing this song) is saying how she is beautiful and he wants to help her and be with her. There were always guys who liked her but she was with the one guy. And now the singer is saying 'she will be loved' as if to say to the other guy, now you're gone she will be loved by someone else, i.e. me

The Killers – Mr. Brightside Lyrics 11 years ago
I know that this is different to most of the comments, but I believe that this song is about being a relationship with a girl that is cheating on her boyfriend (with him.) He's saying that he just kissed her and suddenly felt all these feelings for her. And while he's asleep he is paranoid that she's with her boyfriend; because he wants her to only be with him but for some reason she won't leave him. 'I just can't look it's killing me' is saying how he can't bare to look at her kissing her boyfriend because he loves her. 'jealousy turning saints into the sea' He is jealous of her and her boyfriend because that's what he wants with her. He knows that she wants to be with him deep down but just won't leave her boyfriend. 'chocking on your alibis' Is about how she lies to her boyfriend and him about where she is because she doesn't want to hurt either. 'let me go' is him saying, "you're with him, so why do you need me when all you're doing is hurting me." And then he realizes that 'I'm mr brightside' so that he's what she wants. The brighter side.

This is just simply my opinion and could be very wrong, but it's just how I see the song

Nickelback – How You Remind Me Lyrics 11 years ago
This is my opinion of the song...

'Never made it as a wise man
I couldn't cut it as
A poor man stealing'

I think that he's trying to figure out who he really is, but can't figure it out. He's saying that he's not really smart with his decisions but then he's also saying that he's not too delusion and isn't quite rock bottom.

'Tired of living like a blind man
I'm sick of sight without
A sense of feeling'

This is him explaining that he feels left in the dark by this relationship. He knows that she's keeping secrets from him and he hates it. He knows that something's going on but can't tell what it is and therefore can't predict how he is going to ''feel'' (react).

And this is how you remind me
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am'

I think that this is saying that now that the relationship is over he thinks that he's not worth much. whatever she did made him think of who he really is, and he doesn't think that person is worth anything.

'It's not like you to say sorry
I was waiting on a different story'

I'm not sure about this line. I think that it could mean that either he got into a fight with her and knew that that was the end of them. But then she came around and apologized which he wasn't predicting, and the impulsive action caused him to forgive her, which he later regrets. Or, it could mean that he wanted her to apologize, but part of him always knew that she wouldn't and after a while he gave up on waiting for her to apologize.

'This time I'm mistaken
For handing you
A heart worth breaking'

This is him accepting that he is also at fault for being stupid enough to hand her his innocent heart and allow her to brake it (when she most probably has a reputation of doing so).

'And I've been wrong
I've been down
Into the bottom of every bottle'

He is saying that it's not the first time that he's made a mistake, it's not the first time that he's been heartbroken and now he's drinking himself away to get over her and or to try and find himself.

'These five words in my head
Scream
Are we having fun yet?'

There has always been this nagging voice in the back of his head asking, ''are you having fun'', ''is it worth it?''

'Yeah, yeah, yeah, no no
Yeah, yeah, yeah, no no'

This is him talking back to the voice saying ''yes, yes I am having fun'' but really he's just lying to himself and he knows it.

'It's not like you didn't know that
I said I love you and
I swear I still do'

He's saying, you knew that I loved you and that I still do so why would you want to go ahead and break my heart by cheating on me?

'And it must have been so bad
Cause living with him must have
Damn near killed you'

This is sarcastic, he's really saying that I did everything I could to make you happy so why would you throw it away.

So, that's what I personally believe the song is about, but it's just my opinion...

Fergie – Big Girls Don't Cry Lyrics 11 years ago
I think that this song is basically saying that she has been in this kind of relationship before and it doesn't work well. She has really began to like this guy, but she knows that he's trouble and so she has to stop things before she falls in-love with him. 'And I foresee dark ahead if I stay' Is her saying this isn't going to work. As much as she likes the guy, she has realized that she needs to grown up and look at things in life and think, is it going t work or not. If not, then she needs to let it go.

Taylor Swift – All Too Well Lyrics 11 years ago
I think that this song is about how everything in the relationship was perfect. He'd look over her longingly in the car; almost missing the red light; they'd dance around in the kitchen. she looks through the photo album of his past while he blushes; and his mother tells her stories about the guy. Everything felt like a fairytale and then when she least expects it 'you call me up again to break me like a promise, so casually cruel in the name of being honest.' This is her explaining how over the phone he breaks up with her claiming something along the lines of honesty, and that obviously to him things weren't working. but a while after they break up she still reminisces the moments so clearly. Taylor clearly can't quite move on from this as she says 'time won't fly, it's like I'm paralyzed by it. I'd like to be my old self again, but I'm still trying to find it.' But she knows that he feels the same way, because he's still got her scarf as a memory of her because he still remembers her just like she remembers him.

Taylor Swift – Cold as You Lyrics 12 years ago
In my opinion this is a song written about a boy who she loved so much, but no matter how much she loves him; he is distant and emotionally draining. Taylor is saying that loving him was the coldest place that she'd ever been.

'You have a way of coming easily to me' Here I think that she's saying that she has a way of easily understanding him, and that he comes to her when he's angry because he knows that she'll be there for him.

'And when you take, you take the very best of me' I think that this means that in every fight that they share he takes the best of her out of her; showing how draining their relationship was.

'So I start a fight 'cause I need to feel somethin'' Here it shows how she is so hurt and numb that she just starts fights with him so that she can feels something between them, to know that there's still something worth fighting for.

'And you do what you want 'cause I'm not what you wanted' I think that this means he does anything not caring how it hurts me because she was never what he wanted and therefore he doesn't care how much it hurts her.

[Chorus]
'Oh, what a shame, what a rainy ending given to a perfect day' I think that this shows that every time she thinks that maybe he's changed for the better, he ruins the day by showing his temper and using words to hurt her.

'Just walk away, ain't no use defending words that you will never say' She's saying that there's no use in him staying to put up a defence for himself because he has none. He never said any words like 'I love you' to defend himself on.

'And now that I'm sittin' here thinkin' it through, I've never been anywhere cold as you' This her saying that now that she's had the time and space to think everything through, she realises that being with him was basically the loneliest, darkest, detached place that she has ever been. Basically in all of her relationships she's never felt this deserted ever.

'You put up the walls and paint them all a shade of gray' This shows how he starts to put up walls around his heart so that no-one can get in. 'the shade of gray' associates with the thought that the walls are dark and lonely.

'And I stood there loving you, and wished them all away' Here she's saying how she tried to love him so that he'd put his guard down and let her in.

'And you come away with a great little story. Of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore you' She's saying how once they break up he's going to go back to his friends and make jokes about how she was stupid enough to fall in-love with him when he was clearly never going to feel the same way about.

[Chorus]

'You never did give a damn thing, honey. But I cried, cried for you' he never cared about her, but she cared about him; and when they broke up she cried and cried over him because she was hurting so much.

'And I know you wouldn't have told nobody if I died, died for you. Died for you' He wouldn't have even bothered to mention that when they ended things, she dies (both figuratively and literally.) He never told anyone because it didn't bother him how much pain he put her through.

'Oh, every smile you fake is so condescending' This shows that every smile that he makes is so patronizing because she knows that it's fake.
'Countin' all the scars you've made' This shows how he hurts her time and time again and he pretends not to know how he's hurting her by faking a smile.

So this is my personal opinion of the song; I hope that it helps you with your understanding of it.
