| John Mayer – Daughters Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
But this one stanza—six lines in total—is enough to counteract every comment about the song being sexist just about girls, that the first four stanzas create: The song is about "Parental Alienation Syndrome Child Abuse." which is what parents do to their children during a terrible break-up or divorce. The parents use the child/children as pawns, brainwashing that child against the targeted parent to get even, which has a life long effect on a child into adulthood. Google Parental Alienation Syndrome: Boys, you can break. You find out how much they can take. Boys will be strong and boys soldier on, but boys would be gone without the warmth from a woman’s good, good heart. Wait a minute. Did I hear that right? No, I couldn’t have. Let me go back and listen to it again. Crap. In one fell swoop, John Mayer managed to be referring to both women and men. If it wasn’t so idiotic, It takes a skilled hand to pull off such a swift turnaround. It just surprises me that something like this could have been done by accident. This stanza is a double-edged sword because for everyone saying it is sexist is wrong. John Mayer cleverly mentions both boys and girls reinforces about men, it says the opposite about women. When he sings that "boys would be gone without the warmth of a woman," he is saying: the boy won't know how to love because his heart will be hard and cold that he won't recognize true love because of the way he was treated as a child..." He tells the father and mother to be good to their daughter and son because they learn about how to love from their parents... |
