Lana Del Rey – Put Me in a Movie Lyrics 12 years ago
I actually think this song has a lot to do with the book Lolita. I think the song is about Clare Quilty, who in the book Lolita, was a famous playwright. Lolita ends up running away from Humbert Humbert with Quilty. Quilty was known to be a pedophile hence "come on you know you like little girls". She wanted him to make her famous, she wanted him to save her.

Regina Spektor – Samson Lyrics 12 years ago
I think this song has two different meanings. Obviously there are some allusions to cancer which may reflect personally on Regina's life. There are also multiple allusions to the story of Samson and Delilah from the bible. However, the way I interpret it has nothing to do with Delilah at all. In story, it is not Delilah who actually cuts Samson's hair. It is someone else. I am not sure if this person was a servant or a friend, but I think the song is referring to her and the relationship she had with Samson. This is strengthened by the lyrics "I cut his hair myself one night." Delilah did not personally cut his hair.

I think that Samson was in a relationship with this women that was secret. It makes sense when you think about the lyrics. "I loved you first" might be referring to someone who loved Samson before Delilah, but was not with him. "Beneath the sheets of paper lies my truth" could be referring to the fact her relationship with Samson wasn't mentioned ("the bible didn't mention us") , the story was about Samson and Delilah, she was deemed insignificant because no one knew the truth. Samson came to my bed, went back to bed, implies that they slept separately hinting that they weren't together, but the fact that he comes to her bed shows that they had a significant relationship. I think that this person didn't really want to cut Samson's hair, and that's why he consoles her after the fact.

I like this interpretation because it's about loving someone you cant have, I think that's a little more tragic.
